From The Manager:
It is hard to believe that it is already February! Spring will be here before we know it. This month we will see the end of our winter leagues and the beginning of our Spring leagues.
The winter leagues will end on Sunday February 5th. Good luck to everyone.
Spring leagues will begin on Saturday, February 12th. Thank you to all who have signed up. Your support of our leagues is an important part of the success of our club and is a great way to get better at tennis, have fun, and get exercise. Singles players, please note that there is not a weekend off between the winter league and spring league. Your last scheduled winter league match is the weekend of February 4 and the beginning of spring leagues begins the following weekend, February 12. Remember if you win the spring league you have the option of moving up to the next level for the fall session. As a doubles team, though, you must move up together. If you elect to move up, you must win at least 50% of your matches or place in the upper 50% in the league to stay up. Also, if you want to move up and you are not sure if you will be the winner, sign up for the upper league and under comments, say “if I win the league, otherwise I’ll still play in the lower division”.
We will no longer be hosting the 3.0, 4.0,Open Tournament in February. We have eliminated this tournament and combined it with our March tournament. This March tournament, The Pikes Peak Open (formerly the Kono), will be held March 26- April 1 and will be an open tournament which includes: men’s and women’s singles and doubles and mixed doubles at all levels. Entries for this open tournament will be available at The Club or on line later this month.
We will have evening open court times on Monday through Friday the 6th-10th (regular court rates apply). This would be a great time to schedule a make up match, fun match or some family tennis at a time that is rarely available because of our evening leagues. Permanent court participants, please note that you have regular permanent courts this week (Feb. 5-12). The following week, February 13-19, there are NO permanent courts. This is the week we had originally set aside for the February tournament that has been eliminated. Please note, we can schedule your regular time for you at the going rate if you do not want the week off. Let our staff know if you want to book this “off week” and who should be charged the court fees.
Outside tennis? With the lack of snow this winter and fairly warm winter days, we have been able to keep at least a couple of our outdoor tennis courts open almost all winter. Currently we have 5 outdoor tennis courts that are playable and are in great shape. This availability can change with the weather, so please call The Club for current conditions and to book one of these outdoor tennis courts.
